TNT Post introduces a remarkable Birthdaycard-Design-Machine®
High tech on the inside, easy as hell on the outside. Sending birthday cards was never such a pleasure. TNT (the Dutch Postal Service) asked Qi to conquer the declining market for sending offline birthday cards. But how to make this an unique, easy, exciting and efficient experience?
Qi wanted to offer people all the possibilities which are available in graphical design programs nowadays and make them accessible to everybody. From skilled designers to grandmothers. The website contained an especially designed mini version of Photoshop and Illustrator giving even the most inexperienced consumers design tools to make birthday cards beyond their own imagination and creativity. Cropping, dragging, resizing, colouring, putting in text, objects, uploading, all the basics. But also consulting image libraries, masking parts out of photo’s which you could upload yourself, a lot of freedom in adding and editing text.
A clever and highly creative service which allowed consumers to design their own birthday card for friends in a way which had not been shown online before. In the end the designed card was physically send. So the website made it possible to design a card in a innovative and creative way, and the designed card was actually send physically, boosting the number of real cards send through TNT Post. People have to pay for sending the card so TNT Post actually earns money with it.
The application allowed people to make cards with the same ease as cutting an pasting something real with glue. But this time without the mess. Qi is proud off this website because it really makes use of the strength of advanced flash funcitonality and a strong user interface. The creativity of designer tools giving people real tools for real personalisation and connecting it to a product made a webby-worth case.
This website was an Honorable Mention at the Adobe Max Awards 2008
